If you use short wave infrared lamps for drying you are dealing with the most color sensitive form of radiant heat. Black material will absorb all the infrared radiant energy and scorch the shirt, while a white image area will reflect the radiant heat and not allow a full cure of the ink. Short wave infrared is recognized as white light. The filament is heated to to 4000F and is white hot. Medium wave infrared is seen as a red glow. The filament is heated to 2000F. The proper wave length for color drying is obtained by using medium wave quartz elements.which produce medium wave radient energy that is less color sensitive and allows for even drying.Medium wave length infrared is directly absorbed in the molecule of the ink binder. Soneko is a supplier of Quartz infrared elements, including the patented IQH (Instant Quartz Heat) filament. Most of our information is for offset printing but we are selling more and more quartz elements to the Screen Printing Industry. If you are interested in this subject, I would be happy to discuss this information with you in greater detail. |
